The Legend Of The Coricidin Slide

This is the legend of the Coricidin Slide, and the role that The Real Bottlenecking Co. had in being the first ever to put these bottleneck slides back in the hands of slide guitar players everywhere searching and dreaming about having one, for the first time, and the heartbreak of great bottleneck slide players that had broken their last Coricidin Medicine Bottle Slide and could not get another one.

In the early 80`s, the Federal Government regulated the manufacturing and distribution of medicine bottles after someone in Chicago, Illinois put poison in a few Tylenol bottles, resulting in the deaths of innocent people.

The safety cap rule came into effect ordering that that all over the counter medicine bottles, even plastic ones, had to be fitted with a safety cap. Although the law was logical, it meant that the legacy of bottleneck slide guitar players all over the country who relied on Coricidin medicine bottles to play slide guitar since the 60`s had come to an end.

In 1984 Scott "Blue" Bernstein played lead guitar with the renowned Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. These were the same four session players Dwayne Allman played with before he started The Allman Brothers Band. These sessions were later released on the Anthology Albums 1 & 2.

In 1985 Scott spent lots of time, effort, and money on research and development to recreate these magic bottle slides. The result was the start of The Real Bottlenecking Co. Exact replicas of the original Coricidin Slide were made, and RBNC even improved on the initial design by making these new "Bottleneck Guitar Slides" out of expensive Pyrex glass so they would not break like the old ones. The Classic Medium Clear model is an exact copy of the original. RBNC offers two different weights, three finger sizes and several beautiful colors. We also provide customization at our custom shop. Do not be fooled by cheap imitations. These are fully guaranteed and are the best bottleneck slides avalable. Good luck, and Play The Blues.
